Would Malcolm Gladwell beat LeBron James in a 1-mile race? | The Tylt
Writer Malcolm Gladwell has challenged LeBron James to a one-mile race and says he'll raise money for charity to make it happen. After James posted a jaw-dropping video of his workout routine, runners on Twitter began speculating how fast LeBron could run a mile. Gladwell, a lifelong runner, proposed James race him instead. Could this self-described "skinny Canadian" stand a chance against one of the greatest athletes of all time? What do you think? 🏃🏽💨
Would Malcolm Gladwell beat LeBron James in a 1-mile race?
Here's how it all began. Sports Illustrated notes this is "a game that runners like to play:" people love to speculate just how fast athletes can run a mile.
Gladwell, author of "The Tipping Point" and "Outliers," is also a running nerd and chimed in.
Then someone suggested Gladwell race LeBron James.
Gladwell was totally down for the idea.
Oh, he's for real, and would give all the proceeds to a worthy charity.
Many are asking what Malcolm is smoking, though. James is a legendary athlete who literally runs for a living.
Others think Gladwell could actually do it.
Gladwell would absolutely smoke James in a 5K. Probably anything over 800 meters, really.— Ray (@HouseOfRay) August 23, 2017
#TeamJames says that's ridiculous.
Anyone with facts on their side would become wealthy betting against Gladwell.— Sam Murchison (@SoccerIsArt) August 23, 2017
Others think LeBron could do it, but he would have to train to beat Gladwell.
No way he can run a sub 5 minute mile without endurance training.— Byeweekpicks.com (@Byeweekpicks) August 23, 2017
But this is King James we're talking about! He would crush!
Let's be honest, we would all pay good money to watch this go down.
I would pay to watch this on pay per view— Jason Leonard (@jasonleonard305) August 23, 2017
