Who wins in a home run derby: Aaron Judge or Giancarlo Stanton?
As a home run hitter, Aaron Judge stands head and shoulders above the rest – literally. The 6'7" right fielder has been awing crowds with his monster shots throughout the season, leading MLB with 27 home runs.
Judge is also currently on pace for 57 dingers. Of the 14 hitters with 20 home runs, he also leads in average distance, sending balls over 414 feet every time he goes yard.
He got his numbers with pitchers trying to get him out. Imagine how many blasts he’ll get with someone serving them on a platter.
To get the title, you must go through the champ, and Giancarlo Stanton is not going to relinquish the trophy the way he’s swinging the bat.
He trails Aaron Judge with 21 home runs, but when he gets hold of one, the ball screams off the lumber. His average exit velocity is over 107 mph, second only to Joey Gallo among players with 20 or more home runs. Judge may have started the year off strong, but Stanton is saving his best performance for the home run derby.
Stanton will go back-to-back.
