Megan Rapinoe is fighting for equal pay and is a winning representation of the LGBTQ+ community. She may be ruffling feathers, but when equality is on the line, there should be nothing but respect for her and what she's doing. Here is Christina Cauterucci on Slate with more:
...In the jubilant self-expression she brings to everything she does, Rapinoe has given gay fans a sports hero whose queer sexuality is a central part of her identity, activism, and fame.
Megan Rapinoe had a golden opportunity to unite people with her platform. Instead, she rejected any potential invite to the White House and antagonizing the President. Heroes don't reject a chance to bring people together. Here is Brad Polumbo of the Washington Examiner with more:
It's hard to avoid the conclusion that Rapinoe is a bad role model for the millions of young women across the country. They look up to her and see not a disciplined, respectful sports icon, but a groundlessly bitter, petulant celebrity who is totally ungrateful for the opportunities she's had. As Marc Thiessen put it for the New York Post, "Megan Rapinoe is a great — but needlessly, selfishly divisive — athlete.”
