Should the UFC let Khabib Nurmagomedov walk?

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is threatening to leave the UFC if his teammate, Zubaira Tukhugov, is fired for his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl. The Russian fighter holds the lightweight title and is quickly becoming one of the most dominating forces in the company. Some believe the UFC needs to keep him around. Others think the company should let him quit if he's going to be jumping out of cages. What do you think? 👊

The UFC claims it is the best fighting league in the world because it features the best fighters in the world. If it lets Nurmagomedov go, it can longer make that claim. The Russian is undefeated in 26 fights, including five straight wins with the UFC. The league needs to retain him and make him happy.

Nurmagomedov is only asking that his teammate not be punished for the UFC 229 brawl. It's not a lot to ask and the company gets to keep arguably the best pound-for-pound MMA fighter in the world. Dana White needs to put his ego aside and listen to Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov isn't scaring anyone with this empty threat. He needs the UFC more than the UFC needs him. He doesn't have the personality to carry a fight, let alone an entire league. He is a monster fighter, but the UFC is in the business of making money as well as fights.

If Nurmagomedov doesn't have an opponent with some flare, that event is not going to sell. The company should let him walk if he doesn't want to be there anymore. We'll see how far that gets him.
