Is it time for Tony Parker to hang it up?

For only the 21st time in his 17-year career, Tony Parker came off the bench for the San Antonio Spurs as he works through his recovery from a torn quadriceps tendon. With Parker aging and the Spurs already building towards the future, some think it's time for him to retire. Still, Parker can still revitalize his career off the bench and provide a spark the Spurs could use on the second unit. It could be foolish to push him in retirement. What do you think? 🏀

Tony Parker says he wants to play 20 seasons in the NBA. A valiant goal, but when it's time to leave, it's time to leave.

Tony Parker's torn quadriceps tendon is not healing quickly. He is averaging career lows in points and assists, and he looks slow against the quicker point guards in the NBA. With the Spurs looking to the future with Dejounte Murray at point guard, he should ride off gracefully into the sunset.

He's given Spurs fans a lot to cheer for over the years. Tony Parker has earned his retirement and there is no shame in that.

While Parker is hurt and frustrated right now, there is no way he should walk away from the game when he is still playing at a high level. He's not dropping the kind of numbers he was in the past, but his presence on the second unit can make the Spurs one of the most dangerous veteran benches in the league with Pau Gasol, Manu Ginobili and Patty Mills running with him.

Tony Parker can also be a mentor to Murray who will need some guidance dealing with gruff head coach Gregg Popovich and the NBA in general. He may not be an All-Star anymore, but he still has plenty to offer. He should stay in the league.
