The Tennessee Volunteers coaching search rolls on, and an interesting name has surfaced—former disgraced coach Lane Kiffin. The current Florida Atlantic coach has led the Owls to a Conference USA East Division title, and having him return could be a redemption story the Volunteers need. Still, Kiffin abandoned Tennessee the last time he coached there, leaving the program high and dry. Should the school bring him back? 🏈

Ten years is a long time to hold a grudge. Kiffin's unceremonious exit from Tennessee was a decade ago. A lot has happened in that time, mostly a lot of losing on the Volunteers part. While Kiffin's tenure at USC was less than ideal, he has recovered his image by helping Alabama clinch a National Championship berth, and taken the Florida Atlantic Owls to the Conference USA championship game. He's proven himself to be a competent coach, who can win. That's all the Volunteers can ask for now. Bring back Kiffin.

Some people have that "it" factor to be a big time coach. Kiffin doesn't seem to have it. Sure, he was a reason Alabama made it to the national championship game, but Nick Saban was the guy who was front and center leading the team. He's doing a fine job winning games at Florida Atlantic, but he doesn't have fans or media breathing down his neck to make the job harder. And what about his disastrous turn as USC head coach? Kiffin might want the spotlight, but he hasn't shown he belongs there. Tennessee should look elsewhere for their next head coach.
