Did John Currie get a fair shot at Tennessee?
Imagine trying to do your job, getting stabbed in the back and then getting fired for it. Does that sound fun? Currie's head coaching search may have been less than ideal, but when someone is actively trying to screw you over, you don't deserve to be canned. After eight months on the job, Currie hasn't even had time to settle into the position to do it properly. Currie may not have handled the head coaching situation well, but he didn't deserve to be fired.
Currie didn't need anyone to sabotage him. He was doing a great job of that himself. Currie caved to fan pressure, showing little backbone. A backbone is needed for a fishbowl job like this. He choked under pressure, and Tennessee deserves someone who can lead this program back from the depths of this nightmare of a situation. Currie has damaged the Volunteers, and he needed to go because of it.
