Who will win the Super Bowl LIV: Chiefs or 49ers?
Who cares what happened in the regular season? This is the Super Bowl and the Chiefs are ready to prove they're worthy of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has eight touchdowns in two playoff games this year, reminding people that he is fully capable of carrying a team all by himself. Fortunately, he has plenty of help on the other side of the ball, so he doesn't have to do it all by himself.
The Chiefs defense has been on fire as of late and has figured out a winning formula. They held the hot Mr. 200-yard Derrick Henry to 69 yards rushing in the conference championship and can come up with big plays to shut down San Francisco's running backs.
This is the year the Chiefs will be crowned champions.
Patrick Mahomes may be leading one of the most high-powered offenses in the league, but that won't mean anything if he can't move the ball. The San Francisco 49ers defense gave up the fewest yards per play this season, including the fewest passing yards allowed. If Mahomes can't complete a pass, the Chiefs have no shot at winning the game.
Aside from the defense led by Nick Bosa and Richard Sherman, the Niners have an offense that can keep the clock running. They had the second best rushing attack in the league, and running back Raheem Mostert just wrecked the Green Bay Packers with 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns. With the Chiefs giving up a seventh-worst 4.9 yards per rush during the regular season, San Francisco has what it takes to keep the ball out of Kansas City's hands.
This is the Niners year. They're going to win the Super Bowl.
