Did Mike Tomlin deserve an extension?

Mike Tomlin received a one-year contract extension from the Pittsburgh Steelers to coincide with the end of the quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's contract. Tomlin has coached the Steelers for 13 seasons, winning 125 games, leading the team to eight playoff berths and one Super Bowl Championship. Some feel he is deserving of more money. Others look at his lack of recent playoff success and his inability to win against the Patriots and don't see a reason to reward him. What do you think? 🏈

There's a lot of pressure on Black coaches, but that is only amplified when you take over one of the most successful franchises in the NFL. Mike Tomlin has handled that pressure well and contributed to the winning legacy of the team.

He has won 125 games coaching the Steelers for 13 years. He has only had fewer than 10 wins four times, taking the team to eight postseasons and securing one Super Bowl.

Success is hard to come by in the NFL consistently, but Tomlin has been one of the most dependable coaches in the league. He deserves an extension.

He might win games, but Mike Tomlin hasn't won them went it counts in recent years. He's 3-4 his last four trips to the playoffs with no Super Bowl appearances. He's also lost all nine challenges he's had the last two seasons.

Last season, he also dealt with a divided locker room with star players Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown causing distractions within the team as well as Le'Veon Bell holding out the entire year.

As good as he has been, an extension was undeserved.
