Larry Nassar preyed and assaulted girls in USA Gymnastics and the organization did nothing about it. How can any parent trust an institution after this?

More than 100 girls came forward and told stories of their sexual abuse at the hands of Nassar for over two decades. The only way that is possible is because of system-wide complicity and an effort to stay silent to save face. Former CEO Steve Penny was just arrested for tampering with evidence related to Nassar to protect the group. Just recently, Anna Li, part of USA Gymnastics Athletes' Council resigned because of allegations that her mom was verbally, emotionally and physically abusing athletes. Any organization that prioritizes its own reputation rather than the safety of the children it is responsible for deserves to burn.

There is no way any parent to allow their children to participate in USA Gymnastics.

USA Gymnastics did a terrible thing by letting Nassar use his status in the organization to abuse children. He is going to be put in prison for a long time and three board members quit in light of these disgusting crimes. This housecleaning shows the organization is doing its best to learn from their mistakes and change for the better. It acted quickly when Mary Bono took a public stance against Nike and appears to be fully cooperating with the investigation against Steve Penny. The changes are coming swiftly.

Because Nassar's case has shined a bright light on USA Gymnastics, the group will be more aware and more accountable for its actions moving forward. Even Congress is pressing the USOC and forcing more transparency out of the organization. With all eyes on USA Gymnastics now, it should be safe for your child to pursue his or her dreams in the sport.
