Should Calvin Johnson come out of retirement to play for the Detroit Lions?
At 30 years old, Calvin Johnson was still one of the best, if not THE best, wide receiver in the NFL. No one that big should be able to move that fast, be that precise in running routes, and have some of the softest hands in the league. It just isn't fair.
One year out of retirement, Johnson looks like he can still outrun and out jump most of the NFL. The league is much better when Calvin Johnson is in the league. He needs to come back.
No one should hate coming to work. It's a soul-sucking venture no one should have to experience, and if Calvin Johnson is happier retired, he should stay retired.
The Detroit Lions were going nowhere, and Johnson didn't want to sacrifice his body for an organization that didn't appear to have a chance at the playoffs. The situation still hasn't changed, so why come back now? The NFL season is also brutal on the body, and Johnson was feeling the effects of the grind. It's tough to wake up and have everything hurt, only to put yourself through that punishment over and over again for no reason.
Johnson is happy in retirement, so he should stay in retirement.
