Scott Skiles resigns as Orlando Magic head coach. Was he not right for the job? | The Tylt
Scott Skiles unexpectedly resigned as the head coach of the Orlando Magic. His departure shocked some Magic fans and but left critics happy for the possibility of bringing on a better coach.
“After much thought and careful consideration, I and I alone, have come to the conclusion that I am not the right head coach for this team. Therefore, effective immediately, I resign my position as head coach of the Orlando Magic. I realize this type of decision can cause much speculation. The reality though is in the first sentence. It is simple and true. Any other rumors are pure conjecture.”
Ultimately Skiles had doubts about the team's direction. It didn't helped that he butted heads with general manager Rob Hennigan, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Maybe Skiles is a great coach and this could hurt the Orlando Magic team down the line.
