Will the Red Sox regret dumping Hanley Ramirez?

The Boston Red Sox have decided to designate Hanley Ramirez for assignment, giving the team seven days to either release or trade him. Ramirez was hitless in his last 20 at-bats and batting .168 in May. He's obviously done as a high-level player. Still, he started the season batting .330, and he has plenty of time to figure it out and be the superstar hitter he is. What do you think? ⚾

Ramirez may have been good for the team in the past, but at 34-years-old, the writing was on the wall. He was coming off one of the worst seasons of his career and was in a massive May slump that proved his best years are behind him. It might be painful, but is the right move.

This is such a horrible move. Ramirez is a star hitter who would have busted out of his slump and performed like he did to start the season, batting .330 with three home runs and 17 RBIs by the end of April. The Red Sox could have easily designated less proven players instead. This is going to prove to be a costly mistake.
