Don't listen to the haters. Poker is a sport. There is conflict. There is drama. It takes a lot to be skilled enough to play professionally. You have to have a great understanding of probability and odds. Them, you have to be able to deceive your opponents by hiding the strength of your hand and figuring out what your opponents' tells are.

Poker is a game of skill and should be considered a sport.

Anyone can sit at a table and throw their money away. That doesn't make it a sport. Ultimately, poker comes down to a random assort of cards that get handed to you. Players have no control over what cards they get. That is luck, not sport.
