Are Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski way too mean this year?

Figure skating is on TV once again and that can only mean one thing from NBC's Olympic Coverage: Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are back. Both former figure skaters are known for their flamboyant style and entertaining commentary, but some have said they have been too hard on skaters like Nathan Chen. Still, Weir and Lipinski are paid to give their opinions as former professionals. It is better to tell the truth. What do you think? ⛸

Olympic athletes have enough to deal with. They shouldn't have to fend off attacks from their hometown commentators. Lipinski and Weir have a job to do, but it shouldn't come at the expense of a competitors spirit.

Both should know better because they were Olympic athletes themselves. It's pretty crass to have no sympathy for skaters who are going through a tough time. Lipinski and Weir need to calm down.

The truth hurts sometimes. It doesn't help to run away from it. Better to face the music than be delusional.

Lipinski and Weir bring the noise and everyone should appreciate it. The analyst pair isn't paid to be complimentary. They are supposed to give their honest assessment of performances. Nathan Chen would be the first to tell you that wasn't his best performance. Lipinkski and Weir were just telling the truth. They weren't being mean.
