eSports is a legitimate sport with big-time money behind it. The IOC would be foolish not to partner with eSports competitors to further cement the sport and help evolve the Olympics. These athletes put in hours mastering their hand-eye coordination and knowledge of the game space. eSports deserves to be at the Olympics.
All for esports inclusion with traditional sports, but I hope that people do not report on this IOC Esports Forum as the industry “making it”.
Esports “made it” years ago. Last year, 20 groups invested $352 million in franchise fees for just two leagues. The Olympics need us.
The Olympics are where people come to see amazing athletic feats, not nerds sitting in front of a screen. The IOC doesn't need to sully the reputation of the competition by adding something that takes zero physical ability. Don't ruin the Olympics with eSports.
I'm a gamer, but this is incredibly stupid.
a) what game? there are thousands b) you're using a controller, so you're not actually participating in a physical sport (yes I recognize esports is a thing but come on its not Olympics worthy) c) why isn't Trivia an Olympic sport? https://t.co/HfJamqyXZl
