Should Olympian Adam Rippon meet with Mike Pence? | The Tylt
U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon, the first openly gay U.S. athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics, reportedly refused an invitation to speak with Vice President Mike Pence before the Olympics after Rippon blasted Pence's actions toward the LGBT community. With the biggest event of his life on the horizon, Rippon shouldn't have to pose for a photo-op with a man who supported gay conversion therapy. Still, many believe that in order to pursue change, an open dialogue needs to start somewhere. What do you think?
Should Olympian Adam Rippon meet with Mike Pence?
How Adam Rippon got where he is: hard work, self-possession, mad skill— Louis Virtel (@louisvirtel) February 7, 2018
How Mike Pence got where he is: pandering to bigots, homophobes, our megalomaniacal president
Our gay ferocious prince doesn’t owe that grinning goblin shit.
That’s simply not true. Pence has no intention of changing his disgusting views. You can’t have an open dialogue with a nutter like Pence. He just wants a photo op to make himself look good.— 🌊🌊annejo🌊🌊 (@annejowrites) February 7, 2018
Gay figure skater Adam Rippon has declined to meet with VP Pence after Pence initiated the invite. Sounds to me like @VP was being open-minded & attempting to build a bridge & this fruit just flat-out refused. How do you expect people to accept your rights when you act like this?— Josh Hall (@realJoshuaHall) February 7, 2018
It's called having an open dialog. Left Wingers live in a echo chamber, terrified to engage with people they disagree with.— Sean Campbell (@TheSeanCampbell) February 7, 2018
Rather than try to change a persons mind, they prefer to retreat to their safe spaces.
