Whether it's the food or the camaraderie, tailgates are a place that has a euphoric charm about them, taking people back to their college experiences or students making their own memories to reminisce about in the future. There is no shortage of great tailgates in the country, but eight schools have really separated themselves from the pack. Which school will prevail?

If there ever was a mecca of tailgating, The Grove would be it. Nowhere else can you find such a potent combination of well-dressed partygoers and debauchery in one place.

Ole Miss' iconic tailgate spot is 10 acres of southern hospitality and school spirit—so much so that you can forget there's an actual game going on. The Rebels might not win that many games, but they have never lost the party.

The State of Alabama is short on professional football teams, so when the Crimson Tide play, it feels like most of the state is behind them—especially after winning five national championships in the last 10 years.

Still, no matter how successful the team is, the tailgating at Alabama has always been an experience. Tents start occupying the Quad, the schools tailgating center, the day before the game and festivities only balloon from there. But don't forget to check out the parts of the campus as well.

Here is what Kelsey Hendrix, a producer at Sports Illustrated and alum, had to say:

Take a stroll around campus to see sites like Denny Chimes and the President’s Mansion before heading up the Strip to grab a Yellowhammer at Gallette’s. And then be sure to stop by the Walk of Champions where, two-and-a-half hours before kickoff, the members of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team make their way off of the team buses and into Bryant-Denny Stadium. The small path in front of the stadium is home to championship plaques and stones, as well as life-size statues of National Championship-winning coaches.
