Who survives the second round of the NHL playoffs: Capitals or Penguins?
At 32 years old, Alex Ovechkin's time in the NHL may be coming to an end but at least he's going out with a bang. The Russian forward led the NHL with 49 goals this season and shows no sign of slowing down.
With a strong team behind him, with no glaring weaknesses, this could be the year Ovechkin wins it all. They came back from a 2-0 hole against the Blue Jackets and have already won some nervy games. This is the year the Capitals breakthrough and defeat their demons. They will wipe the ice with the Penguins.
Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and head coach Mike Sullivan were unstoppable in the playoffs last year, winning the Pens a second straight Stanley Cup. Now, with Kris Letang back in the fold, there is nothing that can defeat this deep Penguins roster. The results have already been promising, putting down a tough Flyers in six games.
Now the Penguins head to the nation's capital, where the Capitals have been unable to oust the Penguins in the postseason the last two years, giving them a mental edge. Pittsburgh won't let Washington win.
