Who will win the Stanley Cup: Golden Knights or Capitals?
The Golden Knights may be in their first season, but they sure don't look like it. Vegas is riding a motley crew of rejected young guns and veterans, on the cusp of one of the most unheard of achievements ever: an expansion team winning the Stanley Cup Final.
Marc-Andre Fleury has been a revelation between the pipes all year and he's taken it to a ridiculous level during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He leads all NHL goalies with a .947 save percentage and allowing only 1.68 goals a goal. He also has the most shutouts in the postseason this year. Hot goaltending carried the Golden Knights in the playoffs and, with Fleury on fire, it will carry them to a Stanley Cup.
After years of playoff heartbreak, Alex Ovechkin is finally getting his shot at a Stanley Cup. It's been 20 years in the making, but he won't let this opportunity slip away.
Ovi and the Caps are battle-tested and ready to overcome any challenge. The team is 3-1 in overtime games this postseason and survived a seven-game series against the Tampa Bay Lightning to get to the final round. Led by Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Nicklas Backstrom, the Capitals can solve the puzzle that is Marc-Andre Fleury. This is Washington's year. The Caps will hoist the Cup.
