The NFL has been anything but consistent with its punishments when it comes to breaking the law, but the league has a chance to show it is willing to do what is necessary to get players under control. Ezekiel Elliott was suspended for six games for allegedly abusing his girlfriend. The case never went to trial, but the NFL suspended him anyway.
For the allegations against Winston, the NFL needs to stay the course to repair its image of protecting abusers. Winston should be suspended.
The NFL is so concerned with looking good, it is not giving due process to the allegations against its players. As of now, Winston says the allegations against him aren't true. It is a case of he-said-she-said, and no one should be suspended from their job without at least a trial or proof that this happened.
The league's image has taken a hit since it suspended Ezekiel Elliott because of the lack of procedure, it shouldn't make the same mistake again with Winston.
