Brady is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks of all time. He has more Super Bowl rings than Joe Montana. He's also a four-time Super Bowl MVP, three-time All-Pro selection, two-time offensive player of the year, comeback player of the year and was elected to the all-decade team. He's got the credentials, but he also has some dark moments.

He was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 season for his role in Deflategate. He's also at the center of a team dogged by sporting scandals. Haters say all of the shifty organizational behavior has tarnished Brady's legacy—not to mention Brady's replacements have managed to play just as well in Belichick's scheme. His harshest critics will say he's just a byproduct of all-time great coaching. Even Montana was able to win outside of the 49ers franchise.

It's easy to hate on Brady because he is brash and his behavior is polarizing. But no one can deny his impact on the game from his personal numbers to his ability to perform in the clutch. Sure, he and the Patriots organization can be a little more Empire than Rebel Alliance, but we need to appreciate everything he has accomplished and award him his natural place as the greatest of all time.

Brady has never truly won without Belichick or a great defense behind him. Belichick still got the Patriots to 11 wins without his star quarterback in 2008. he hasn't proven he can win on his own. In fact, he's collapsed under pressure several times throughout his 16-year career. He lost two Super Bowls to the Giants and fumbled away a potential game-winning drive in Super Bowl LII. You can't be GOAT with an asterisk. Deflategate, Spygate, etc. will always give critics enough ammo to question Brady's character.

There is another legendary QB with four rings (Montana) and a handful of Hall of Famers with two or three rings (Steve Young, Troy Aikman, and Peyton Manning, to list a few). Those guys earned rings without the constant accusations of cheating, which is worth something in the argument of “greatest ever.”
