Would you pay to watch flag football?

Former NFL Pro-Bowl receiver Joe Horn claimed fans would still pay to see the NFL if it shifted to flag football, setting off a flurry of responses. Horn wants to make the game safer and, even without hitting, the athletic ability of these players could still be entertaining. Others feel that the violence of football is the most appealing part of the sport and no one would watch if that was taken away. What do you think? 🏈

If you think about all of the amazing catches, pinpoint passes and blazing runs in the NFL, few of them are remembered for the tackling involved in each play. If you took tackling out of the equation, you would still get ridiculous highlights without the guilt of having someone literally risking their lives for a play. Isn't that an ideal sport?

Injuries in football are always going to present, but there is nothing wrong with cutting it down as much as possible. Making the NFL a flag football league would certainly cut down on concussions and make the game safer without having to sacrifice the athlete moves that make the sport for beloved.

The NFL would still be a highly watched league if it moved to flag.

First, the NFL started emphasizing penalties that put defenses under the gun, not we have former Pro-Bowlers calling for the league to move to flag. If this keeps up, the league that everyone fell in love with would disappear completely.

No one wants to see grown men patty cake their way up and down the field. Violence is what makes the game exciting. The ability for people to do damage to each other and still get back up is what people pay for. Watching athletic skill is fine, but they can get that for free with a simple YouTube search.

If the NFL took away tackling, no one would watch it.
