Do you feel bad for convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez?
Let's start this by saying Aaron Hernandez is a convicted murderer. No one is denying that. However, the circumstances that led to him killing someone also deserve to be taken into account and they are disturbing, to say the least.
Reports of physical abuse at the hands of his father, potentially having to hide his sexual orientation and allegedly being sexually abused all surround him. No one should have to deal with all of that and the immense pressure of playing in the NFL. Throw that in with confirmed CTE that may have contributed to his impulsive behavior and you have a man who may not have been in control of himself.
This is not an excuse for his crimes. But if you look at what Hernandez experienced as a human being, it would be difficult to not feel bad for him.
Millions of people have really bad childhoods and millions of people aren't murderers. It's unfortunate that Aaron Hernandez had to deal with what he did, but that's not an excuse for killing someone in cold blood. People like that don't deserve sympathy.
Blaming CTE or external circumstances for killing someone is too convenient. Hernandez is an adult and he should be held accountable for his actions. He killed one person (maybe two others). No one should feel bad for him.
