Who would you rather build a team around: Zion Williamson or Ja Morant?
The modern NBA is moving towards positionless basketball and no one is more built for it that Zion Williamson. There is a reason people have been following him since high school and he's a player everyone wants on their team.
Yes, his fame stems from his freakish athleticism at 6'7, 280-pounds, but beyond his insane dunks and bully ball down low, Williamson is a complete player. He has shown the ability to knock down three-pointers and he can make plays for others from the post.
Williams hasn't had an ideal start sitting on the bench with an injury, but there is no one else who has more potential than him.
While Zion Williamson was on the bench to start the season, Ja Morant has been running away in the race for the Rookie of the Year award. No other rookie has been more electrifying with his playmaking ability and power around the basket.
The 20-year-old is already a rising star in the NBA, averaging 18 points and nearly seven assists per game as of January 16, and it isn't all volume, either. He sports a .494/.407/.804 slash line and he has hit some clutch shots in his young career.
Williamson may have been more hyped before the season, but Morant has proven his potential more. If anyone is building a team, the Grizzlies guard is the rookie to build around.
