The Golden State Warriors have been the gold standard for NBA teams in recent years, and a lot of that can be attributed to the play and leadership of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry—but who is alpha? Some feel Durant has taken over the reigns of the Warriors with Curry fighting injuries. Others believe Curry retains his alpha status on the team by being one of the players who turned the franchise around. What do you think? 🏀

With Curry battling the injury bug as much as he's fighting off defenders, the Warriors are under new management. Durant has stepped in when the Warriors needed him the most and flourished. Against a stingy San Antonio Spurs team in the NBA playoffs, Durant averaged 28.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists while shooting 48 percent from the field. You can't lead a team from the bench, and Durant has been leading from the front.

Here's what Jason Clinkscales, managing editor at The Sports Fan Journal, told The Tylt:

While there's no question that this is a machine that will keep humming without either player, Durant provides a bit more to the table than Curry. While they are both offensive dynamos at their respective positions, KD provides more defensive versatility in the various lineups Steve Kerr can put together. Durant can comfortably guard 2s and 3s, but has the quickness and length to chase stretch 4s. The criticism of Curry's defense may have quieted some - that's what winning two titles in three years seems to do - but in the regular season and in the playoffs so far, Durant has the Dubs' second-best defensive win share tally next to Draymond Green.

Before Durant even put on a Warriors uniform, Curry had already led the team to an NBA title. No matter what Durant does with or without Curry at Golden State, he will always be second fiddle to the man who brought a championship to Oakland.

Curry was drafted and developed by the Warriors. His status as the franchise cornerstone will never diminish until he decides to hand the torch over. The team was 6-0 during the 2017-2018 regular season when Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were playing without Durant. The Warriors' record with Durant, Thompson, and Green without Curry was 10-7. It's obvious that Curry is still the MVP of this super team.

Here is what Joon Lee, staff writer at Bleacher Report, told The Tylt:

Steph is the real leader of the Warriors. He's the OG...the culture of that team. He's the one who dictates the pace of the offense and who the offense is centered around. He's the guy who set the tone with the rapid number of threes, as the greatest shooter of all time. Kevin Durant may be the most skilled player, but Steph is what makes that team click.
