After a couple of tweets from President Trump and a rally where participants chanted "send them back," referencing a war of words between Trump and Congresswomen who were women of color, Kerr had some feelings he wanted to share:

I believe the vast majority of Americans want a unifying, moral leader. The GOP has sold its soul to Trump, so the Dems have to get this right in 2020. Make this about jobs and unification. Period.

Steve Kerr has had no problem dragging President Trump in public:

I’ve been fortunate enough to meet President Reagan, both Bushes, Clinton, and Obama. I didn’t agree with all of them, but it was easy to set politics aside because each possessed an inherent respect for the office, as well as the humility that comes with being a public servant in an incredible position of power, representing 300 million people. And that’s the problem now. In his tweet to Steph, Trump talked about honoring the White House but, really, isn’t it you who must honor the White House, Mr. President? And the way to do that is through compassion and dignity and being above the fray. Not causing the fray.

Gregg Popovich also pulls no punches when it comes to speaking out against President Trump:

I think [these] people have been enabled by an example we've all been given...our country is an embarrassment to the world.

Not only does he care about social issues, he recognizes the privilege he has as a white man not having to deal with the everyday struggle of being Black in America. He should be an example to others on how to be empathetic—especially in a professional sports league that benefits financially from its predominantly Black talent pool.

It's difficult for white people to understand the day to day feeling that many black people have to deal with. It's not just rogue policeman, or a policeman exerting too much force or power...It's too easy for people to let it go because it's not their daily experience. If it's not your daily experience, you don't understand it.
