Who is the NBA Rookie of the Year: Donovan Mitchell or Ben Simmons?

Some first-year players lit up the league during the regular season, but two rookies have separated themselves from the pack. Utah's Donovan Mitchell and Philadelphia's Ben Simmons are finalists for the league's Rookie of the Year award and it's not hard to see why. Mitchell averaged 20.5 points per game for the Jazz, leading the team to the playoffs. Simmons dominated games with his devastating overall game, averaging 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game. Who wins? 🏀

All seemed lost for the Utah Jazz after Gordon Hayward left for greener pastures in Boston. Donovan Mitchell made sure the Jazz wouldn't miss a beat. The rookie out of the University of Louisville led the Jazz in scoring, providing a fearlessness that sparked Utah to a five-seed in the playoffs.

Ben Simmons isn't even a true rookie. Mitchell is the only choice for Rookie of the Year.

Simmons is one of the main parts of "The Process" in Philadelphia, and he has delivered since making his regular-season debut. Simmons may not have a jump shot, but he still has no problem scoring or finding lanes to drive and finish close to the basket. Still, his greatest asset may be his passing ability, showing off incredible instincts and vision in the Sixers' offense.

Embiid may get the fame, but Simmons is the gear that drives Philadelphia further.
