Who will survive the Western Conference Finals: Warriors or Trail Blazers?

The last two teams in the Western Conference are set to do battle, with a spot in the NBA Finals on the line. The Golden State Warriors might not have Kevin Durant due to a sprained calf muscle, but the original core group of stars proved they could get the job done in the playoffs. The Portland Trail Blazers are hoping to ride the hot hands of C.J. McCollum and Damian Lillard all the way to the NBA Finals. Who will survive? 🏀

Old hat, tired, predictable: You can hate all you want, but for the fifth straight year, the Golden State Warriors are in the Western Conference Finals. Big deal, right? Who knew that four All-Stars would get them to the doorstop of the NBA Finals again?

While Kevin Durant might miss an extended period of time with a strained calf, the Warriors are running with the old Big Three of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. Not only did they come back against a fully healthy Houston Rockets squad, but they also eliminated the team from the playoffs without their best player.

If the mighty Rockets couldn't stop them, there is no way a Trail Blazers team that has only won one game against them in the playoffs since 2016 can compete.

The Trail Blazers might be historically bad against the Warriors in recent years, but this is a different Portland team. There is that undefinable "it" factor this squad possesses that has carried them in the NBA Playoffs so far, and there is no way that changes just because they are facing the Golden State.

Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum are cooking from the perimeter, but what separates this group from teams of previous years is the defense. The Trail Blazers are giving up fewer points than the Warriors and allowed a lower effective field goal percentage, as well. There are few teams that have a defense that can handle the Warriors, but Portland stopped the Denver Nuggets who had the second-best team offensive rating at the time they were eliminated.

People keep underestimating the Blazers, and they will continue to prove the doubters wrong with a series win against the Warriors.
