While Michael Jordan may be known for psychotic competitiveness, the Black Mamba may have him beat. No player maximized his ability to dissect the opposition on the court like Bryant, who would break down tape, try new recovery techniques, and continually add to his already unguardable game.

If an opponent had a counter for him, Bryant would already have an answer through tireless hours of practice. At the time of his retirement, he had the third-most career points in league history. There was no other player who could match his work ethic or intensity.

Surprised to see Tim Duncan on this list and not another player? You shouldn't be. Much like his demeanor, Tim Duncan's résumé quietly sneaks up on people—despite his impact obvious impact.

The Big Fundamental is arguably the greatest power forward ever to play in the NBA, winning five NBA championships in 19 years on the strength of his patented bank shot. His game might not be flashy, but it was lethally consistent; Duncan could hit clutch shots and come up with huge defensive plays when his team needed him the most.

Duncan may not have the most style, but his greatness cannot be denied.
