There's a reason why His Royal Airness is the considered the greatest player ever, and it wasn't just his gaudy stats or late-game performances.

Jordan brought swag and style that had never been seen in the league before. Whether it was his wagging tongue, acrobatic finishes or intimidating stares, Jordan had a flair that defined an entire generation of NBA players.

Jordan's six championships are still the gold standard for greatness, as well as his ability to add all new skills to improve his game. Many people say they would run over their moms to win a game. Michael Jordan may be the only athlete who actually meant it.

While Michael Jordan may be known for psychotic competitiveness, the Black Mamba may have him beat. No player maximized his ability to dissect the opposition on the court like Bryant, who would break down tape, try new recovery techniques, and continually add to his already unguardable game.

If an opponent had a counter for him, Bryant would already have an answer through tireless hours of practice. At the time of his retirement, he had the third-most career points in league history. There was no other player who could match his work ethic or intensity.
