Should the NBA lower its draft age limit?

Since 2006, players eligible for the NBA Draft have to be at least 19 years the same calendar year of the draft or one year removed from high school graduation. Many feel the age limit is unnecessary, prevents adults from starting their career and opens them up to getting injured in college, like Zion Williamson. Still, the NBA has benefited from having players first develop at the college level. There's no need for the league to change the policy now. What do you think? 🏀

The NBA recognizes the failure of the higher age limit. Adam Silver proposed they lower the age limit back down to 18 to allow high school graduates to jump straight to the NBA instead of being forced to play college, where they have no interest in academics and risk injury that could affect their entire career. It's unfair that 18 year olds can sign up for putting their lives on the line for the military, but can't play a game right after high school.

Lowering the age limit is the right move.

Adam Silver and the NBA maybe lowering the limit back down to 18, but he got the league got things right in 2006. Eighteen year olds aren't ready for the physical and mental rigors of playing in the NBA. Not everyone is LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett or even Zion Williamson. Players often think they're ready but end up failing because they took the leap too quickly. Names like Kwame Brown, Jonathan Bender and Leon Smith live in the annals of NBA history has cautionary tales of hinging your franchise on a kid straight out of high school.

Allowing these kids to the NBA quickly doesn't benefit them or the NBA. The age limit should remain at 19.
