Should wins be taken into account for NBA All-Star selections?
When it comes down to it, winning is all that matters in sports. A person with a significant contribution to a winning team will always get more consideration than a player who is piling stats on a losing squad. Is that fair to the player getting All-Star stats, being snubbed? Maybe not. But it is a factor and should always be a factor when choosing an All-Star.
An NBA All-Star selection is an individual recognition of talent. What does the team's success have anything to do with that? There are so many factors in winning. A player can be killing it on the court, but if his teammates aren't doing their jobs, that effort can be lost. Players like Devin Booker and Bradley Beal should not be penalized for their teams' lack of wins. Team records should be thrown out of the window for individual awards like All-Star selections.
