Does the NBA need a midseason tournament?

NBA commissioner Adam Silver says a midseason tournament during the All-Star Game and end-of-season tournament for a playoff spot are in the conceptual phase, using European soccer as an inspiration for both possibilities. Some love the idea of experimenting with another format that could be exciting for the league. Others don't see the point in adding a meaningless tournament and more games that would tire out players. What do you think? 🏀

More basketball is good basketball. Adam Silver taking from European soccer is a stroke of genius, and adding a midseason tournament and an end-of-year tournament would make the NBA more exciting.

A midseason bracket gives teams something to play for during a time of the year when players are bored. A tournament at the end of the year gets teams that are out of the playoff picture motivated to play hard when a lot of teams are tanking in the current system.

Silver needs to implement this change ASAP.

The problem the league already has is too many games, and adding two tournaments would only exacerbate that issue. Players have problems staying healthy for 82 games as is. These tournaments would only put more strain on their bodies.

Unless the commissioner plans on reducing the games, these additional competitions are a bad idea.
