Would win a 7-game series: 2018 Golden State Warriors or 2001 Los Angeles Lakers?

The Golden State Warriors won their third championship in four years. Yeah, they’re kind of good. However, some NBA fans say the 2001 Los Angeles Lakers with Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant could beat anyone. That's the same team that finished the postseason with just one loss and an NBA title. But while those Lakers were talented, these Warriors could be even better. What do you think? 🏀

Pace and space. There is no way that slow 2001 Lakers team would be able to keep up and guard all of Golden State's shooters without fainting from exhaustion. Also overlooked is the Warriors defense, which led the 2018 playoffs in defensive rating.

Golden State could swarm and recover against the Lakers with no problem. The Warriors would wreck the Lakers.

The Warriors may be one of the most talented teams ever assembled, but they never faced a one-two punch quite like Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. O'Neal is a game stopper, forcing teams to slow down to defend and would negate any pace the Warriors would try to impose.

Backing him up would be Kobe Bryant, the young assassin with the athleticism to boot. Like the Warriors, the Lakers defense in 2001 was also overlooked, notching a 97.9 defensive rating to lead the NBA that playoff season. The Lakers would smoke the Warriors.
