Does Mike Trout need to do a better job of marketing himself or does MLB?

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred criticized Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout for shying away from the media and commercial spotlight, arguing Trout's lack of brand building makes it harder for pro baseball to market him as a star. Some feel Trout needs to do more endorsements to grow his brand and help the league. Others feel Trout does plenty of work in the community and makes baseball exciting with his play. If anything, some feel the league should do a better job of marketing Trout itself. What do you think? ⚾

Mike Trout might be the best baseball player in the world right now but no one seems to know this. Say what you will about his play, but Trout's brand-building is terrible. If he did more endorsements, it could help him become an icon and help grow the game.

Baseball has given Trout so much. It's time for him to give back and do more promotions for himself and the league.

Most professional sports leagues would be ecstatic to have a player who keeps his head down and plays the game the right way. Somehow, MLB found a way to muck that up. If the league wants Trout to be a megastar, it should promote him—just like other leagues do with their stars. Trout's play is enough to make him star. It's up to the league to take him to the next level.
