Who wins the AL Championship Series: Houston Astros or New York Yankees?
The Houston Astros has arguably the most complete team in the American League. They flexed those muscles in the ALDS where they defeated the Boston Red Sox.
AL MVP candidate Jose Altuve ran through the Red Sox pitching staff, batting .533 for the series belting three home runs, and knocking in four runs. The pitching staff was anchored by the arm of newcomer Justin Verlander, who pitched well in his only start of the series and got the win in the series-deciding Game 4.
Astros have built a winner in Houston, and they have all the pieces to make the World Series.
It's not every year a team goes down 2-0 in a five-game series and beats a 100-win team in the American League. Then again, the Yankees have a history of doing this.
In 2001, New York found themselves in the same hole against the Oakland A's, only to come back to win. That year, the team rode its veterans to victory. This year, the Yankees have maximized their young talent, protected by a veteran bullpen. No one player has been outstanding hitting the ball, someone has stepped up in each victory. From Didi Gregorius in Game 5 to Greg Bird in Game 3, the Yankees find a way to win.
The New York Yankees reached the World Series the last time they came back from a 2-0 deficit. They will do it again this year.
