After their respective Rookie of the Year campaigns in 2012, Mike Trout and Bryce Harper are often mentioned as two of the biggest stars in the league. Mike Trout has been a marvel on the field, making unbelievable plays in the outfield, and crushing the ball. Bryce Harper brings an edgy attitude to go along with his natural hitting ability. He's got that home run swagger. Who would you build around? ⚾

Mike Trout and Bryce Harper may have started their first full seasons together, but Trout is head and shoulders better than Harper. There is not a better overall player in MLB right now than Trout.

At 6'2", 235 pounds, the Los Angeles Angels outfielder is built like running back and moves like one too. Once Trout gets on base, you can see the speed he generates, resulting in 30 stolen bases in 2016. That is a problem for opposing teams because he gets on base A LOT.

Trout led the American League in 2016 in on-base percentage for two straight seasons. So far in 2018, he is leading MLB in WAR. Trout has already won two AL MVP awards and never been out of the top four in MVP voting since his rookie year.

Add those accolades with his ability to patrol centerfield like a cheetah with a mitt, and you have a franchise player you can build around. Harper has more talent around him, so he’s seen more postseason games. If Trout were on the Nationals, you could bet they would at least get out of the first round.

If you want to be the best, why not choose the best?

Mike Trout has some nice numbers, but what have been the results of those stats? One playoff appearance. Bryce Harper is a winner, and that is the reason he is the best player to build a franchise around.

Since his rookie year in 2012, Harper has played in four postseasons and the Washington Nationals have finished the on top of the National League East four times. The kid knows how to win, and looks good doing it.

Trout has incredible skills, but he’s an absolute stiff once you get him off the field. Harper is not only having great results in the game, he is a marketing machine. Harper is the face of Under Armour’s baseball campaign, and has made commercials for T-Mobile and Gatorade. If you want a guy to be a star for you on the field and off it, Harper is your man.

Harper got his first MVP award at 22 years old. He’s only going to get better, brasher and more entertaining as his career progresses. If you want attention-grabbing talent with a side of fun, you can’t go wrong with Bryce Harper.
