Joe West's umpiring career is basically a gag reel of what not to do as a baseball official. Look at this base-stealing plat he interfered with in the World Series. He couldn't track a ball from 127 feet away and yet he's supposed to make a literal split-second decision on balls and strikes?
Plus, West's other attention-grabbing moments thoroughly demonstrate the fact that the game has passed him by and he's too stubborn to change. He's simply the worst.
