Facing trial isn't a walk in the park, especially when a family is involved. In Heimlich's case, it would have put his niece on the stand where she would have been in the spotlight. He told The New York Times he pled guilty so his family wouldn't have to go through that.

Heimlich paid for his admission of guilt, even though he may not have been guilty at all. He is adamant nothing happened. He went through counseling and has been registered on the sex offenders list for five years. Everyone deserves a second chance.

If someone was accused of molesting a six-year-old and they were innocent, you would think that person would shout from the rooftops they didn't do it. Heimlich didn't do that. He admitted guilt.

A person who is convicted of molesting a child should not have the privilege of playing a sport and making millions of dollars from it. He might play the game "the right way," but he couldn't be a human the right way first. MLB teams should continue to leave Heimlich undrafted forever.
