Oregon State star pitcher Luke Heimlich is getting noticed by pro scouts before the MLB Draft, but his dark past can't be ignored. According to The Oregonian, Heimlich was convicted of molesting his six-year-old niece when he was just 15 years old. Heimlich is now saying he was given bad legal advice and never committed the crime. Still, many feel that he should never touch a baseball diamond as a professional. What do you think? ⚾

Facing trial isn't a walk in the park, especially when family is involved. In Heimlich's case, it would have put his niece on the stand where she would have been in the spotlight. He told The New York Times he pled guilty so that his family wouldn't have to go through that.

Heimlich paid for his admission of guilt, even though he may not have been guilty at all. He is adamant nothing happened. He went through counseling and has been registered on the sex offenders list for five years. He deserves a second chance at life doing something he loves. MLB should accept him.

If someone was accused of molesting a six-year-old when they were innocent, you would think that person would shout from the rooftops they didn't do it. Heimlich didn't do that. He admitted guilt.

A person who is convicted of molesting a child should not have the privilege of playing a sport and making millions of dollars from it. He might play the game "the right way," but he couldn't be a human the right way first. MLB teams should band together and bar him from stepping foot on an MLB field.
