The MLB has made strides in bringing more excitement and exposure to the game. Opening the season overseas is an incredible way to do so and we've seen how exciting that can be in Japan.
Baseball fans were treated to a different kind of baseball, where fans have coordinated chants and play trumpets when their team is up to bat. Fans in the United States are so used to the typical cheer-and-beer stadium experience that being exposed to this horizon-expanding event can only make you appreciate the game more.
Some are complaining about the game times, but MLB has 160 other games to make it up. The league should continue having the opening series around the world!
The opening series looks really fun. It's too bad no one is around to watch it!
This is an AMERICAN game. MLB opening the season overseas is an awful idea. Not only do a majority of baseball fans in the United States miss it, but it also screws up the entire season. The Mariners and Athletics played a regular season game while every other team is in spring training. Now, they have to go back and play spring training games. That makes zero sense!
Expanding the game is great, but it shouldn't come at the sacrifice of baseball fans in the United States.
