Who wins the AL Wild Card: New York Yankees or Minnesota Twins?
The one-game Wild Card round can be a blessing or a curse for teams. It is a blessing for the New York Yankees. Twins pitcher Ervin Santana has had a good season, but he is 0-5 with a 6.43 ERA at New Yankee Stadium for his career and 6-10 with a 5.66 ERA overall. The Yankees have Santana's number and will advance to the divisional round.
The Minnesota Twins may not have the household names the Yankees have, but all Minnesota does is win. And the team does it with smart work at the plate. It is third in the American League walks, and fourth in the AL in on-base percentage. Luis Severino has an impressive 2.98 ERA, but when the Twins get on base, they will put enough pressure on him to make him crack. The Twins will win.
