Will MLB be played in 2020?

While other sports have plans to return, MLB is still rife with internal struggle on how and when the 2020 season will be played. Both the owners and players of the organization are far apart in their expectations and some believe the season will be canceled altogether. Others think both sides will bridge the gap because baseball is too important to be left in the dark. What do you think?

While the threat of COVID-19 is diminishing, baseball continues to be lagging behind other sports in terms of launching their season. The dog days of summer have turned to the dog days of negotiation where neither the owners nor the players are willing to budge on their demands. With both seemingly an ocean apart, there really isn't a whole lot of hope that MLB will get it right and start the season at all.

Even if the commissioner attempts to force a season, the players may choose not to play if they feel the risk isn't worth the reward. The 2020 season is heading towards a cliff and shows no signs of slowing down.

Tylt sports editor Dan Tran and former Sonoma Stompers assistant general manager Jen Ramos talk about the Astros cheating scandal and provide some alternate punishments.

If other sports come back and baseball doesn't, it would be a disaster for America's pastime. The owners know that and the players do as well.

It may not be now and it may not be tomorrow, but MLB will be back before the end of 2020. There is too much at stake for baseball not to be back. Whether it is public pressure or the commissioner forcing the season to continue, fans will still see major league ball being played.
