Sports radio has been a little quieter without Francesa's booming voice and epic rants. The radio legend's contract with WFAN expired in December, but he's already returning to the industry. Are you excited about his comeback?

You can never count out a legend. Mike Francesa is a pioneer who made sports radio as it is today. His high energy rants and unbending intolerance for terrible takes is what makes sports radio entertaining. WFAN tried to replace him with Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray, and Bart Scott, but no one can bring in the ratings like the Sports Pope. Francesa's return is a breath of fresh air.

Legends leave an impact on their respective fields, but eventually, they have to go away. Francesa was one of the originators of modern sports radio, but his schtick is getting old.

Truth is, Francesa's time in radio is over. Even he knows that, appearing to fall asleep on the air while talking with a reporter. He may have been a regular on WFAN for 30 years, but it's time for new talent to emerge. Francesa should have stayed away from radio permanently.
