Did Rick Pitino know about corruption in Louisville basketball? | The Tylt
Rick Pitino was "effectively fired" after the Louisville Cardinals were implicated in a nationwide corruption scandal. In a statement, Pitino claimed he was “shocked” by the allegations, and believes a “few bad actors” were the perpetrators. With so many moving parts, he could’ve been completely ignorant of the situation. But, as the head of the basketball program, he has a responsibility to know everything, and there is no way he didn’t know about the bribery. What do you think? 🏀

With a corruption scandal this big, there are a lot of movers and shakers who work behind the scenes. As vigilant as a coach has to be, Louisville head coac can't be three places at once, or have his eye on everything at the same time. His assistant coaches could easily have gone rogue, or Adidas could have acted on their own as well. Pitino is innocent, and doesn't deserve to have his name dragged through the mud.
And pitino didn't know. You really think a hall of famer would do something like this with what's already going on?— Parker Carter (@YoungCarter44) September 27, 2017
Head coaches are CEOs of their basketball team. If a student-athlete sneezes, they know about it. There is no way Pitino didn't know about the bribes. After claiming ignorance in Louisville's sex scandal, there are only so many times you can cry wolf before people stop believing you. He may not have directly received money, but it is probable he knew about this going on in his program and did nothing about it. So, Pitino saying he was "shocked" is disingenuous.
After years of cheating and breaking NCAA violations, Rick Pitino deserves to lose his job. He obviously knew about the strippers and money.— Ernesto Cedillo (@ernyc3777) September 27, 2017
