The Staples Center has been the site of many incredible moments since opening in 1999. Many of them were provided by Kobe Bryant.

Bryant guided the Lakers to seven NBA Finals appearances, lit the scoreboard up with 81 points, outscored an entire team through three quarters and drained multiple game-winners in the building. He has done so much for Los Angeles in the venue and it deserves to be named after him.

Kobe Bryant has done a lot for the Lakers and Los Angeles, but the Staples Center is so much more than just him. There are the Clippers, who are a rival team that plays in the same building. There are the Los Angeles Kings that play a completely different sport there. And there are multiple music artists that have rocked the venue to its foundation.

Renaming Staples Center to honor Bryant would be a bit over the top. Naming the Lakers court after him would be more appropriate.
