Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O'Neal were two of the most unstoppable forces in their respective NBA eras. Abdul-Jabbar was a six-time NBA champion and has one of the most unbreakable records in sports. He also had an unblockable shot. However, others say Shaquille O'Neal's combination of size and coordination made him the most dominant center in an even more competitive era. Once he got you on his back, you were helpless. What do you think? 🏀
Who would win 1-on-1: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or Shaquille O'Neal?
At the height of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's powers, he was the most unguardable players in the NBA. Not only could he bust you in the on the inside with an array of post moves, but he could also step out and hit a jump shot if you slept on him. He did most of his damage with a lethal signature shot: the sky hook.
Cap was no slouch on defense either, leading the league in blocks for four years and had enough mobility to guard out on the perimeter.
There is no way Shaq could stop Abdul-Jabbar in his prime.
The NBA has never seen a more destructive force wreak havoc on the court than Shaquille O'Neal. At 7 feet and 1 inches tall, and a solid 350 pounds, the Diesel had the size to move every defender who dared stand in front of him.
With Shaq's back to the basket, no one could withstand the strength of his drop step or close the gap on the space he cleared. On defense, that size was only magnified as even the strongest NBA players bounced right off him.
There's no reason to think Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would be able to hold O'Neal in the post on both sides of the ball. The Big Aristotle would destroy him.
