Should James Harrison retire as a Pittsburgh Steeler?
James Harrison may have jumped to ship to the New England Patriots, but it was the Steelers who first messed with Harrison by scratching him for a majority of the season. If the organization didn't do him dirty like that, he wouldn't have gone to the enemy.
However, the team can mend this fence by allowing Harrison to retire as a Steeler. Harrison was a pivotal part of two Super Bowl Champion Steeler teams. 80.5 of his 84.5 sacks were while he was donning the black and yellow of Pittsburgh, and almost 15 years with the team counts for something.
The Steelers need to do the right thing. Let Harrison retire as a Steeler.
For many fans, James Harrison is just another player. His ultimate betrayal of the franchise has permanently stained his reputation. New England is a forbidden franchise for any Steeler to join.
Hooking up with an enemy as hated as New England destroyed any goodwill Harrison built with Pittsburgh. His defection to the Pats prompted many people to burn their No. 92 jerseys, setting ablaze Harrison's most memorable career moments in Steelers' fans minds and hearts. He doesn't deserve the honor of going out a Steeler.
