Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook just recorded his fourth straight triple-double and is now averaging a triple-double on the season—a feat that has only been accomplished once in NBA history, nearly 55 years ago. Pundits are saying we're witnessing the greatest offensive performance in NBA regular season history. Others say such talk is way too premature and disrespects all-time performances from Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, etc. What do you think? Vote below! 🏀

Averaging a triple-double on the season is an incredible feat for any basketball player and it's only been done once in all of NBA history. Several other players have flirted with it, but couldn't go the full distance. The vaunted stat is similar to a MLB player hitting .400 on the season, which hasn't been done since 1941. Can Westbrook keep up this historic pace?

It's easy to start handing out awards well before the NBA midseason. But not only is Westbrook facing criticism that he lacks the character and intangibles to be a true No. 1 in the league, others are starting to wonder if his body can even sustain this pace. The reality is the NBA season is long and tiring, and even Westbrook's coach is worried about the physical toll this is taking on the point guard:

On the other side of it, I look more at the minutes for him, in terms of really wearing him down with excessive minutes,” Donovan, who has resisted the urge to bump up Westbrook’s court time from last season, explained.

What nonsense. We are witnessing nothing short of hoops history. Westbrook is not just your average NBA player, this is a man who has been historically durable by any standard:

Notions that Russ doesn’t have the energy to continue this is ridiculous. This is the same guy who never missed a high school, college or professional game until Patrick Beverley took matters into his own hands. This is the same guy who has said he plays every game like it’s his last. So the idea that he’s going to slow down is crazy.

You can't fight this. It's happening. Records are going down.

I didn’t think that Russ was actually capable of this going into the season. But we’re almost a quarter of the way into the season as I write this. And Russ is only getting stronger. He’s had five triple-doubles in the last seven games.

Okay I lied. I have one more reason why Russell Westbrook will average a triple-double this season.

Russell Westbrook is not from this planet.

Fans are ready to start handing out hardware now. Some think he's a lock for MVP, others think he might be greatest point guard of all-time!

Critics argue Westbrook is benefitting from stat padding and a deeper look at his stats reveal a lot of missed shots. Others fans are saying maybe we should wait a hot minute and see the whole season play out before calling Westbrook the greatest of all-time.
